You can stack blocks one by one
You can build a bustling block town
But Mom, I only want to build a tower
So I can knock it down
You can wash every pat of you clean
You can play with boats and bubbles in the bath
But Mom, I only want to get in the tub
So I can splash and splash and splash
You can have a restful sleep
You can enjoy your happy dreams
But Mom, I only want to go into my crib
So I can dance and play and scream
You can try sweet and salty, tart and tasty
You can eat fruit and fish and sprouts
But Mom, I only want to eat this food
So I can spit it out
You can play with builders, jacks, and marbles
You can enjoy them however you would choose
But Mom, I only want to play with those
So I can hide them in your shoes
You can pet the dog and stroke the cat
You can sing with the bird and hold the mouse
But Mom, I only want to have a pet
So I can ride it around the house
You can sing and dance all day long
But at night, please sleep so I can too
But Mom, I only want to wake you up
So I can be with you
